This blog is geared toward all things healthy. Resulting from my New Years resolution to improve my health, I intend it as a place to share recipes, exercise tips, equipment ideas with my sisters and all my acquaintances both current and future. I invite input from guest bloggers who have something to say on the subject of health.

How's the new year going?
I completed my month of being booze free and now am drinking responsibly. His Lordship is so please that I am available to go out for a pint every now and again!
I am still off of the coffee and have to say that I am sleeping a lot better. Getting close to 7 hours a night. I still wake up to pee but usually nod off with 10 minutes again so that is a big improvement.
The healthy eating plan is going well too and so is my exercise. So overall, I feel pretty swell. How are you ladies???
However, after losing the weight gained over Christmas, I have not lost much. The struggle goes on.
This ad is 100 years old from 1918 proving that the battle of the bulge is nothing new! Overstoutness - now there is a word that needs to come back into our vocabulary.

It's January
Yes - January. Otherwise known as diet month. It's no secret that I packed on a few pounds over the Holidays.
So today I started my diet. Instead of setting a weight loss goal which will inevitably fail, I am going to call this diet "Three Months of Healthy eating". Yes until April 8th I plan to eat a very clean healthy diet. A combo of Furhman and zone type meals, 2/3 vegetarian. No booze, coffee or sweets for the first month. It started today.
I also have been ramping up the exercise since Christmas - hiking, doing yoga, riding. I intend on adding Pilates and weights. We will see if that happens this time.
Well, I need to go menu plan. Wish me luck. I hope this doesn't happen tomorrow.
What are your New Years plans??? Any healthy resolutions to tackle?

Goodbye insomnia?
I may be jumping to conclusions, but about 10 days ago I started limiting myself to one cup of diluted coffee in the morning. 1/2 regular coffee and 1/2 hot water. And for the last 5 nights or so I've slept thru the night or nearly so. But no waking at 2 or 3 am wide awake. I read that caffeine can stay with you for 16 hours. I hope this is the answer.

Almost a month
Tomorrow will be 1 month since I went boozeless. While my exercise program has been a disaster i.e. passed the first week, it did not really happen, my diet has been great. I have been cooking my socks off preparing lots of healthy meals. His Lordship and I have been eating more vegetarian options and in our meat dishes, we are eating a lot less. My real cheat was that chocolate coffin I received as a gift from Doug and Annie. It was too tempting to resist. But as far as the booze, it was not that difficult to abstain! I have lost only five pounds so the corset is gonna be tight. I will just have to loosen those laces!

Kombucha
His Lordship has been providing me with Kombucha since I have gone boozeless. We have this wonderful craft Kombucha place called Trubucha that was represented last year at the beer fest. Our local liquor Jacks has it in kegs. I just buy the bottle and refill it. I love that - not so much waste. I was not crazy about the watermelon but loved the blueberry.
